Sevier County approves sewer easement for Senior Center to allow City of Sevierville extension

Sevier County commissioners unanimously approved a sewer easement Dec. 8 allowing the City of Sevierville to extend sewer service across County property at the Senior Center.
Mayor Waters and Assistant County Mayor Matt Rudder told the intergovernmental committee the requested portion of the Senior Center parcel lies within a floodway and cannot be developed, making the easement a feasible option to connect a nearby development to city sewer. "The portion lies within a floodway and cannot be developed," Rudder said when explaining the request to the committee.
Commissioner Rick Valentine moved to approve the easement; Commissioner Jack Parton seconded, and the motion passed unanimously. The committee did not note conditions attached to the approval during the meeting.
The action allows the City of Sevierville to proceed with its planned sewer extension to serve the new development. The committee adjourned at 4:44 p.m.
