Sevier County committees authorize letter of intent for ambulances, contingent on future appropriation

Director Rick Valentine told the joint Budget and Intergovernmental Committees on Feb. 8 that three ambulances have been appropriated in the current fiscal plan but the supplier expects the units will not be ready until the third quarter of 2024, and that lead time for new ambulances is estimated at 20 to 25 months.
Valentine requested that the committees authorize a Letter of Intent to purchase for the next year’s budget. Commissioner Michael Maddron moved to approve the Letter of Intent on the condition that the Sevier County Board of Commissioners appropriates the necessary funds; Commissioner Chuck Godfrey seconded the motion and the committees recorded the motion as passing unanimously.
The minutes reflect that the Letter of Intent is contingent on future appropriation by the full board. The committees did not record a specific timeline for when the Board of Commissioners will consider the appropriation or a supplier name for the ambulances.
