Sevier County Audit Committee unanimously accepts FY2022-23 state audit; marks third straight clean audit

The Sevier County Board of Commissioners’ Audit Committee voted unanimously Feb. 8 to accept the Fiscal Year 2022-2023 audit from the State of Tennessee Comptroller following a brief presentation and recognition of the county’s financial review results.
Assistant County Mayor and Senior Director of Finance & Administration Brooke Huffaker presented the audit at the committee’s meeting in Sevier County. Vice Mayor Bryan McCarter told the committee, “this is the 3rd Clean Audit the County has received in a row and Sevier County was 1 of 15 counties in the state to receive this recognition this year.”
The committee moved quickly to act. Commissioner Mike Chambers moved to accept the audit as presented; Commissioner Warren Hurst seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous.
The meeting also settled committee officer roles: Commissioner Kent Woods was selected as chairman after a nomination by Commissioner Warren Hurst and a second from Commissioner Bryan Delius. Director of Grants and Special Projects Andrew Temple was nominated by Commissioner Hurst and seconded by Commissioner Chambers to serve as secretary; that nomination also passed unanimously.
Commissioner Hurst moved to adjourn the meeting, Commissioner Woods seconded, and the committee adjourned at 4:08 PM. No further discussion, conditions, or follow-up assignments were recorded in the transcript.
The acceptance is recorded as the formal action of the Audit Committee; the audit itself was prepared by the Tennessee Comptroller’s office and presented to the committee during the Feb. 8 meeting.
