Dickson County Commission approves school fund amendments, two rezonings and a 35 mph limit on Eno Road

The Dickson County Commission met Feb. 18, 2025, in the Buford L. (Booty) Reed Jr. County Commission Chamber and passed a series of unanimous motions covering school fund budget amendments, land-use rezoning, a local traffic speed limit and a slate of appointments.
The commission approved Resolution 02-2025-01 authorizing amendments to the County’s General Purpose School Fund (Fund 141), Federal Projects Fund (Fund 142), Central Cafeteria Fund (Fund 143) and/or the Capital Project Fund (Fund 177). The motion to adopt the resolution passed by a unanimous aye voice vote.
The meeting also cleared two rezoning matters. After an advertised public hearing with no speakers for or against, commissioners approved a rezoning request for Paul Lovell (Tax map 40, Parcel 44.07, 5.00 acres on Hwy 49 East) to change the parcel from A-1 (Agricultural) to C-1 (Rural Center District). The commission separately approved Resolution 02-2025-02 to amend the official zoning map by rezoning Parcel 016.02 of Tax Map 101 (3066 Hwy 70 East, Burns; approximately 1.67 acres) from C-2 (General Commercial) to C-1 (Rural Center District) for Noah Gelerman; both rezoning motions passed by unanimous voice votes.
In a separate item, commissioners approved Resolution 02-2025-03 to set the speed limit on the public road known as Eno Road at 35 miles per hour. The motion passed unanimously.
The commission accepted Quarterly Reports for All Funds except Schools and approved Quarterly Financial Reports for All School Funds by unanimous votes. The body also approved the Jan. 21, 2025 meeting minutes.
Appointments and committee assignments were confirmed during the meeting. The commission appointed Amanda Berry to fill the Planning Commission term vacated by Kristie Sullivan. It appointed several Sheriff’s Office staff members—Chief Jailor Dwayne Hayes; Captain Brian Cave; Sergeant Adam Collins; Sergeant Ashley Whitworth; Deputy Joseph Webster; and Lieutenant Joshua Barber—to the Inmate Disciplinary Review Board. Commissioners also approved the appointments of Ms. Conni Heard, Commissioner Dwight McIllwain, Commissioner Mike Petty, Mr. Stefan Logan and Mr. Jeff Kilian to the Agricultural Extension Committee. A list of submitted notaries was accepted as presented.
No members of the public addressed the commission during the public comment period. The meeting concluded with the clerk’s and chairman’s signature lines; the commission announced its next regular session for March 17, 2025, at 7:00 P.M.
Actions taken at the Feb. 18 meeting were recorded as unanimous voice votes on each motion; roll call earlier in the meeting listed ten commissioners present and two absent.
