During the public-comment portion of the Jan. 20 meeting, Derrick Norms, identified in the minutes as CT Director for Dickson County Schools, asked the commission to support expanding livestock-showing opportunities for middle-school Future Farmers of America participants. Norms said the Agricultural Department would lead efforts to involve Dickson County students and expand facilities so the county could host agricultural shows.
The remark was made during the public-comment period; Director of Schools Dr. Christie Sutherland later told the commission she was not ready to present the schools' scheduled agenda item and the presentation was moved to next month. The minutes do not record a formal staff directive or funding decision tied to the public comment.
