Nance County board authorizes interfund transfers, reviews large pledged collateral and approves claims

The Nance County Board of Supervisors on Feb. 24 reviewed pledged collateral and approved multiple interfund transfers and routine claims. The board reviewed pledged collateral from Points West Community Bank held through Bankers Bank of the West totaling $1,331,839.87.
The board adopted Resolution #26-2, authorizing transfers under the adopted 2025–2026 budget: $225,000 from the General Fund to the Road Fund; $10,000 from the Building Fund to the Sinking Building Fund; $20,000 from General to the Sinking Sheriff Vehicle Fund; and $100,000 from General to the Road Equipment Fund. The motion to approve the resolution was moved by Supervisor Scott Russell and seconded by Supervisor Darren Nelson, and the minutes record the resolution as approved.
Supervisors also moved to approve all claims and payroll items submitted, covering multiple vendors and payroll disbursements. The minutes list salary claims of $87,933.27, General Fund claims of $36,441.10 and Road Fund claims of $42,692.19. The board approved the County Treasurer’s miscellaneous receipts #26010001 through #26010049 totaling $167,028.77 for January 2026 (motion by Supervisor Darren Nelson, second by Supervisor Steve Crouse).
An agenda item concerning a county postmark procedure was tabled pending guidance from the Nebraska Association of Counties (NACO). The board will revisit the item after receiving NACO guidance.
