Bland County supervisors approve school requisition, add $79,047 for social services and authorize delinquent tax list

At its June 22 meeting the Bland County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the consent agenda including a $809,712.83 school requisition, amended the FY2021 budget to add $79,047 for Social Services, approved $1,464.75 in trash-bill adjustments and authorized publication of the 2020 delinquent tax list; the board also met in executive session over a noise complaint.
Bland County Board of Supervisors Chairman Stephen Kelley called the June 22, 2021 regular meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. at the Bland County Courthouse. The board unanimously approved an amended agenda that added Board and Commission reports and authorized publication of the 2020 delinquent tax list.
The board approved the consent agenda, which included payroll and vendor payments for May and June, departmental reports and the Bland County School Board's May 2021 requisition of $809,712.83. The consent motion passed on a roll-call vote in which supervisors Randy Johnson, Karen Hodock, Adam Kidd and Stephen Kelley each voted "yea."
The board amended and appropriated the FY2021 budget to include additional federal and state allocations for Social Services totaling $79,047. "MOTION to amend and appropriate the FY21 Budget with the additional federal and state allocations for Social Services in the amount of $79,047.00" was moved by Randy Johnson and seconded by Adam Kidd; the motion passed on a roll-call vote with all supervisors voting yea.
Supervisors approved trash-bill adjustments for March through June 2021 totaling $1,464.75. The motion to approve those adjustments was made by Adam Kidd, seconded by Karen Hodock, and passed unanimously. The board also authorized publication of the 2020 delinquent tax list on a motion by Adam Kidd seconded by Karen Hodock; that motion passed unanimously.
During the meeting the board moved into executive session to discuss a noise complaint. "Move to go into an executive session to discuss a noise problem, pursuant to 2.2-3711-A paragraph 7&8 Consultation with Legal Counsel, of the Code of Virginia," moved by Adam Kidd and seconded by Randy Johnson, was adopted by roll call. After returning to regular session the board adopted the Certification of Executive Meeting under Va. Code §2.2-3712; the certification motion was made by Karen Hodock and seconded by Randy Johnson and passed on roll call.
The meeting adjourned on a motion by Adam Kidd seconded by Randy Johnson. The board scheduled its next regular meeting for July 27, 2021, at 5:00 p.m. at the Bland County Courthouse.
