Madeline’s House says Lunenburg will lose services as center narrows its service area

Southside Center for Violence Prevention (Madeline’s House) told the board it will reduce its service area from 12 to five counties on July 1; Lunenburg County will not be among the five counties to remain served, the center’s financial manager said.
Emma Webb, financial manager for the Southside Center for Violence Prevention (known as Madeline’s House), told the Board of Supervisors on Feb. 13 that the center’s recent application to the Children’s Advocacy Centers of Virginia had been declined and funders have signaled concern the organization serves too large an area.
"SCVP currently serves twelve counties; however, beginning July 1st they will be reducing the number of counties to five. Lunenburg County will not be one of the five remaining counties served," Webb said, thanking the board for prior support.
The board did not take action at the meeting to address the change; Webb’s statement was presented as information to the board. The transcript does not record an alternative provider or county plan to replace services in Lunenburg.
Board members acknowledged the report. The loss of services as described by Webb will take effect July 1 unless the center or its funders change course or an alternate arrangement is made.
