Summary
At the Feb. 13 meeting Mr. Mike Champion asked the board to raise Lunenburg’s Piedmont Senior Resources appropriation from $4,000 to $16,000; the board later appointed Champion to the PSR board for a three‑year term beginning Feb. 14, 2020.
During the public comment period on Feb. 13, Lunenburg resident Mike Champion asked the Board of Supervisors to increase the county’s FY2020‑21 appropriation to Piedmont Senior Resources (PSR) from $4,000 to $16,000, saying that the larger amount is needed to maintain services and to honor agreements between member counties.
"The county currently appropriates $4,000; however, PSR is requesting $16,000," Champion said, asking the board to consider full funding for the upcoming budget year so services for seniors in Lunenburg can be maintained.
Later in the meeting the board unanimously appointed Mike Champion to the Piedmont Senior Resources Board for a three‑year term starting Feb. 14, 2020 and expiring Feb. 13, 2023. The transcript shows the appointment was seconded and approved without recorded opposition.
The board did not take a budget vote on PSR funding during the meeting; Administrator Tracy M. Gee earlier said the Finance Committee has begun 2020‑21 budget work and will meet with school finance representatives. Champion’s funding request will need to be considered in that forthcoming budget process.
