Lunenburg forms Transportation Committee after VDOT lists road projects including Route 600 paving

Kevin Smith of VDOT told the board that among planned projects was paving 1.1 miles of dirt road on Route 600 (Varick Chapel) and planned work on Route 621 (Dix Road) and Route 622 (Nutbush Road). Supervisor Alvester Edmonds asked to meet with VDOT representatives to discuss additional county roads and potential additions to the Six-Year Secondary Plan.
County Administrator Tracy M. Gee recommended forming a Transportation Committee; Supervisors Edmonds and Charles R. Slayton volunteered and the board unanimously appointed them to the committee.
The committee is intended to coordinate local priorities with VDOT and to examine potential additions to the county’s secondary-plan requests. The minutes record the committee formation and appointment but do not list a meeting schedule or additional charge.
