Lunenburg supervisors approve partial abandonment of sections of Zach Road and Bailey Road

The Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Feb. 13 to approve the partial abandonment of Route 745 (Zach Road) — roughly 0.1 miles — and Route 732 (Bailey Road) — roughly 0.6 miles. The action authorizes County Administrator Tracy M. Gee to sign the adopting resolution.
Kevin Smith of the Virginia Department of Transportation told the board the requests were submitted by landowner Malcolm L. Bailey and that both segments lie in the Rehoboth District. Smith said there was no public comment during the hearing.
Supervisor T. Wayne Hoover moved to exit the public hearing and approve the abandonments; the motion was seconded and carried unanimously by the supervisors present. The action follows the county public‑hearing process and transfers control of the listed right‑of‑way segments per state and local procedures.
The board took the vote after the VDOT presentation and without further public testimony; the county record shows the applicant as the sole landowner for the affected roadway sections. The board did not attach additional conditions to the abandonment in the meeting record.
The matter will proceed with Administrator Gee signing the resolution to effect the abandonment.
