Lunenburg amends code to allow family cemeteries on private property

The Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors voted May 14 to modify the county code to include a definition for "family cemeteries" and to add family cemeteries on private property to the list of permitted uses.
County Attorney Frank Rennie told the board state code indicates families should not have to pursue a Conditional Use Permit for a family cemetery on private property; the county amendment aligns local code with that guidance. Supervisor T. Wayne Hoover asked whether the change would take effect immediately and Rennie confirmed it would. The ordinance was approved by unanimous roll call vote.
