Lunenburg County Electoral Board approves 2026 Officers of Election list and proposes pay increases for FY 2026/27

The Lunenburg County Electoral Board approved a proposed list of Officers of Election for 2026 and voted to include higher pay rates for election workers in its FY 2026/27 budget request, the board’s Feb. 3 minutes show.

According to the minutes, the General Registrar presented the list of proposed Officers of Election and the board moved, seconded and approved the list; the Registrar will notify the prospective election officials to be sworn in for 2026.

During the Registrar’s report the board reviewed a pay-comparison chart that compared the county’s election-worker rates with seven neighboring counties. After discussion, the board approved a motion to propose the following pay rates in its FY 2026/27 budget submission: Election Official, $185; Poll Chief, $265; Assistant Chief, $225. The minutes record that the motion was seconded and approved but do not identify the mover, seconder or a vote tally.

Board members also discussed the county’s proposed travel, lodging, meals and expense-reimbursement policy in connection with planned travel for the VEBA annual meeting in March. The minutes state the financial arrangements for attendance have been made and that the board discussed the county memo on reimbursement practices.

The minutes note the FY 2026/27 budget request is due Feb. 13; the approved pay proposal will be included in that submission. The minutes do not record a formal vote count or identify which members moved or seconded the motions recorded.

The minutes identify Donna Dagner as calling the meeting to order at 4:00 PM. The signatory block at the end of the minutes lists several officers (including an "Oliver I Winght, Chairman" entry), which is inconsistent with the opening line; the minutes do not clarify the discrepancy.

The board scheduled its next meeting for March 3 at 4:00 PM and adjourned at 6:45 PM.
