Point Betsie shoreline project put on hold after single bid; county publishes opioid RFP and new website

County Administrator Katie Zeits briefed Benzie County commissioners on administrative and project updates during the Aug. 8 meeting.
Zeits said the county received only one bid for the Point Betsie Shoreline Restoration Project and will not move forward with construction at this time. County staff plan to republish the RFP in early 2024 with the goal of initiating construction in 2025, citing contractor availability and permitting timelines. Zeits also reported that a county Opioid RFP has been published and the county is awaiting proposals.
Zeits announced the county’s new website has been published and asked residents to contact the administrator’s office with any issues. The minutes record that staff will seek proposals and follow procurement procedures for the shoreline project if and when the board directs staff to proceed.
No procurements or construction contracts for the Point Betsie project were awarded at the Aug. 8 meeting; the record shows only the report that a single bid was received and that staff will consider republishing the RFP in 2024.
