The Barry County Board of Commissioners approved routine claims totaling $190,453.86, authorized legal action in an ongoing case, and appointed delegates to a retirement-system meeting during its July 23 session.
On a roll call vote moved by Jon Smelker and supported by David Hatfield, the Board approved claims in the amount of $190,453.86. The minutes list ayes from Commissioners Mike Callton, Bruce Campbell, Mark Doster, David Hatfield, David Jackson, Jon Smelker and Bob Teunessen; Commissioner Catherine Getty was absent.
The Board also approved allowing the chair to sign an Acknowledgement of Service of Process and Consent to Entry of Judgment in Safe Environmental Properties LLC and Robin Pierucci v Barry County, et al., Case No. 24-390-CH. The motion, moved by Jon Smelker and supported by David Hatfield, passed with all ayes.
Additionally, the Board appointed Bob Teunessen as Officer Delegate and John Smelker as Officer Alternate to attend the 2024 Municipal Employees Retirement System annual meeting Oct. 10–11, 2024 in Grand Rapids and approved paying the delegates’ expenses.
