Morton County approves equipment purchases, concurs with bridge contract and adopts several administrative items

At its Oct. 28 meeting the Morton County Commission accepted a $622,720 bid for two Caterpillar graders, concurred with a $992,968.35 NDDOT bridge contract, approved abatements, reinstated the Hebron Renaissance Zone, adopted cybersecurity and media-relations policies (800-004 passed 4-1) and tabled a funding request from Dakota Media Access.
The Morton County Commission on Oct. 28 approved multiple procurement and administrative items, including a purchase of heavy equipment, concurrence with a state bridge contract and several policy and fiscal actions.
Commissioners accepted Butler Machinery's bid for two Caterpillar Model 150AWD motor graders and wings at a total cost of $622,720 and authorized ordering for delivery after Jan. 1, 2026; Commissioner Morrell moved and Commissioner Tokach seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. The commission also concurred with the NDDOT award to Jensen Brothers Construction for two bridge replacements totaling $992,968.35 and executed the resolution for return to NDDOT; that motion was moved by Commissioner Tokach and seconded by Commissioner Buckley and carried unanimously.
The commission approved abatements #7155–7156 and #7157–7161 (motions passed unanimously), reinstated the Hebron Renaissance Zone at the request of Hebron Economic Development, and approved policy 600-004 (Cybersecurity) unanimously. The board adopted policy 800-004 (Media Relations) on a 4-1 vote (Commissioner Buckley opposed). A funding request from Dakota Media Access was tabled and referred to Auditor Dawn R. Rhone for a budget-line review.
The meeting also recorded total county funds expended from Oct. 10 through Oct. 28, 2025 of $2,010,148.48 and adjourned at 8:41 p.m.
