Morton County Commission approves $1,500 for Dakota Media Access, accepts St. Anthony plat letter of credit

The meeting, called to order by Chairman Nathan Boehm at 5:30 PM at the Morton County Courthouse, recorded presence of Commissioners Buckley and Tokach and Auditor Dawn R. Rhone; Commissioners Zachmeier and Morrell were absent. Commissioner Buckley moved and Commissioner Tokach seconded the motions on most items; votes on the measures recorded all voting aye.
Why it matters: the letter of credit (LOC) accepted by the commission allows the developer to record a commercial plat before roads are finished, provided the LOC names Morton County as beneficiary and is payable if the project is not completed by June 30, 2026. That condition protects the county by ensuring financial recourse if required public improvements are not completed on schedule.

The public comment period required by state law was opened at 6:18 PM, produced no speakers and was closed at 6:19 PM. The commission reported that county funds expended from Oct. 29 through Nov. 13, 2025 totaled $3,964,738.39.
