Resident urges action on Northside High School overcrowding at Tuscaloosa County Commission meeting

Jerrod Franklin of 15433 Beacon Point Dr. addressed the Tuscaloosa County Commission on Feb. 4 to express appreciation for the Commission’s past support of Northside High School programs and to raise concerns about capacity in the Northside school zone.
Franklin said the zone is experiencing "significant population growth," with new subdivisions under construction that he said are expected to put additional strain on local schools. He specifically noted the current use of portable classrooms at the elementary school as a sign of overcrowding.
The comments were made during the public-comment portion of a largely procedural meeting in which commissioners also approved ward-boundary adjustments and property-enforcement actions. No formal county action on school capacity was recorded at the meeting; the Commission adjourned to Feb. 18, 2026.
