The Screven County Board of Commissioners on Nov. 4, 2025 approved several routine actions, including an intergovernmental agreement to house Long County inmates in the county sheriff’s jail, a contract award for the 2025 road striping project and the county’s 2026 LMIG project list. The meeting opened at 9:00 a.m. at the Screven County Courthouse and adjourned at 11:04 a.m.
Commissioner Rosa Romeo moved to approve an IGA to house Long County inmates; Commissioner Justin Smith seconded. The motion carried by unanimous vote. The board did not provide further details about the agreement during the meeting record.
A separate motion approved Peeking Pavement for the county’s 2025 striping project. Commissioner Thompson moved the contract award; Commissioner Justin Smith seconded and the motion carried by unanimous vote.
Commissioner Romeo moved to approve the 2026 LMIG project list with authority for staff to adjust the list as needed; Commissioner Mike Dixon seconded and the motion carried by unanimous vote.
County Manager Lori Burke reviewed Thanksgiving and Christmas hours of operation for county offices. Commissioner J.C. Warren complimented Platinum Paving for progress on the county’s paving work.
At 9:10 a.m. the board voted unanimously to enter an executive session to discuss personnel matters; the board returned to open session at 11:03 a.m. Commissioner Edwin Lovett moved to approve the minutes of the executive session; the motion carried by unanimous vote. There were no public comments recorded.
The meeting was adjourned by Chairman Will Boyd at 11:04 a.m.
