Springville council approves minutes, names delegates and discusses service changes

The Springville City Council completed several routine items during its work session, approving minutes, authorizing conference delegates and hearing community announcements.
The council approved the minutes from the Feb. 2, 2026 meeting after a motion by Council Member Bosworth and a second by Council Member Hemmings. The mayor then asked for volunteers to serve as voting delegates for the Alabama League of Municipalities business meeting on April 30; the mayor volunteered to serve as voting delegate and named Katrina Hennings as first alternate. A motion to authorize those delegates (moved by Council Member Toles and seconded by Council Member Bosworth) passed by voice vote.
Other announcements: the mayor promoted a free "Take a Kid Fishing Day" on March 28 at Big Springs Park from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in memory of John Coyne and urged community participation. The mayor also reminded residents that on March 1 Waste Management will assume administrative roles for local trash service—taking calls on debris pickup, missing or damaged cans and handling quarterly billing. Council members discussed a planned flyer and social-media outreach to inform residents of the transition.
The meeting closed with brief comments about procuring market tables and a pedestal dedication; the council then adjourned after a motion from Council Member Tolles and a second from Council Member Henning.
