The Harrah City Council on Feb. 5 approved updates to the city's Special Event Guidelines to include changes related to film permits, food vendor requirements and event-area coverage for Jorski Chevy Park. The council also approved changes to the fee schedule affecting sign permit fees, food vendor registrations and filming fees. Both actions were passed by unanimous vote (motion by Steve Scalzo, seconded by Jennifer McCammond).
Separately, the council approved a $70 purchase for two signs at Jorski Chevy Park to be paid from the Beautification Fund (moved by McCammond, seconded by Rudek) and a $500 purchase for concrete pads for tables and trash cans at the park (moved by Rudek, seconded by Lisby). Both motions passed unanimously.
During council comments, Vice Mayor Steve Scalzo raised a concern that the engineered wood chips being placed at the park need to be ADA compliant. The minutes record no formal action on that point; City Manager Jacob Wood and staff updates reflect that park improvements and the new ladder truck are in progress. Brandy from the Chamber reported a recent meeting with the Department of Commerce and reminded council about the Chamber's monthly meeting; Hans from the Historical Society said the society had changed hours and needs volunteers.
