Minnehaha County opens application period for medical cannabis dispensary licenses

County Auditor Ben Kyte told the Nov. 23 commission meeting that Minnehaha County will accept in-person applications for medical cannabis dispensary licenses beginning Nov. 29, 2021. The application period closes Dec. 13, 2021 at 5:00 p.m.; the county will hold a random selection of applicants on Dec. 17, and the selected application will be forwarded for Commission approval on Feb. 15, 2022. Kyte said application forms will be posted in the Notices section of the county website and will also be available at the Auditor’s Office during business hours.
The county minutes specify that applications must be submitted in person to the Auditor’s Office at 415 N. Dakota Ave., Sioux Falls. The County did not provide additional details about selection criteria beyond the announced random-selection process or about any application fee in the minutes.
