Alpine Elementary teachers credit Bookworks and UFLI curricula with reading gains

Principal Snyder and classroom teachers described curriculum components and classroom practices used to support vocabulary development, reading fluency and comprehension, and to strengthen student writing. Teachers cited multiple celebrations of student progress but did not present districtwide assessment data at the board meeting.
Student Representative Chay'ce Smith added that 40 students will attend the African American Male Achievement Conference, he will speak at the Youth 2 Youth Symposium, the KHHS Rotary Interact Club will create a butterfly garden, and Student News is working on the senior video.
Why it matters: Classroom curriculum decisions and observed gains in literacy affect equitable student outcomes and inform district instructional adoption and professional development priorities.
The board received the presentation as an information item; no board action was taken.
