Cowley County commissioners voted unanimously on Feb. 17 to grant Economic Development Exemptions (EDX) to two businesses, a measure county staff and the board said is intended to support local job and investment growth.
Economic Development Coordinator Jessica Falk presented Resolution No. 2026-02 for J & N Land and Cattle LLC dba Silverdale Quality Stone and Resolution No. 2026-03 for Non-Typical Ventures LLC/Vector Technologies Inc. Both resolutions call for a declining property tax exemption that begins at 100% in the first year and decreases by 10 percentage points each year until the property is fully taxed. Commissioners approved each resolution by a 3-0 vote.
Chairman Jim Maxwell opened and closed the required public hearings on both exemptions during the meeting. No opposing public comments were recorded in the minutes.
What happens next: the exemptions will be implemented according to the resolutions; county staff will process any filings required to record the exemptions.
