Glendale hears water master-plan update; Hops Well redrill awarded to Lamb Drilling

Kyler Nielsen and Dallin Torgerson introduced themselves to the Glendale Town Board and updated members on water work, saying a culinary water master plan completed last year identified system deficiencies and recommended projects to improve reliability.
They reported the Hops Well redrill contract has been awarded to Lamb Drilling with a tentative start date of May 1. Site improvements — including grading and road repairs to permit rig access — must be completed before drilling. Staff said they need to secure a written access agreement with the property owner, Ray Benz, before work begins. The site improvements and a well house were estimated at about $100,000 and that portion of funding has been provided by a grant, the presenters said.
Mayor Chamberlain told the board the town must address long-standing operational shortcomings, including shallowly buried mains and difficulty locating valves that have forced the town to shut off the entire system for localized repairs. He said he plans to meet with staff and consultants to update the town’s general plan and focus on efficiency improvements.
No formal action was taken during the update; consultants indicated they are pursuing CIB funding and resolving issues with the new project portal before returning with further details or requests for approvals.
