The Charlotte County Electoral Board voted Thursday to prohibit Sunday voting in the Nov. general election, approving a motion by the board secretary that was seconded by the chair and passed without dissent.
The motion, offered during the registrar's report, drew no public objection and was recorded as passed "without dissenting vote," according to meeting minutes. The board did not record a numerical roll-call tally in the meeting notes.
The registrar also told the board the official canvas is scheduled for noon on Nov. 3, and that the Electoral Board will be at the registrar's office at noon on Nov. 5 to pick up any ballots that arrive after Election Day; the canvas posting is listed to start at 1 p.m.
The board did not attach conditions to the Sunday-voting decision in the meeting record. No additional motions were made to revisit the ban at this meeting.
