Drakes Branch town office to remain polling place until new firehouse opens, board says

The Charlotte County Electoral Board confirmed at its emergency Dec. 20 meeting that Drakes Branch’s town office can continue to be used as a polling place until the town completes relocation to a new firehouse.
The board’s secretary contacted the town clerk to verify the site; the clerk told the board the town office can remain in use and that the polling location will be moved to the new firehouse when construction is finished. The town clerk also provided phone numbers for the fire department chief and the contractor to the board secretary to coordinate the future move.
Board members said they will determine timing for the relocation process once the firehouse project reaches a point that permits the move. No formal vote was recorded on the polling-place matter during the emergency meeting, which focused primarily on the registrar’s office and related legal questions.
