Board members said applications for the Registrar post had been received (four as of Jan. 6) and discussed whether to screen applicants or interview all candidates; the Board considered a grading scale for resumes and a critique sheet for interviews. The Board initially scheduled interviews for Monday Jan. 17 through possibly Jan. 19 and to begin at 6 p.m. at the temporary Registrar’s office (117 Legrand Avenue). Acting Chairman Glenn Baker moved to schedule interviews; Secretary Glenwood Foster seconded and the motion passed without dissent.
Because Jan. 17 is Martin Luther King Day, the Board later decided to delay interviews until Tuesday Jan. 18 (SEG 044). The Board also postponed reorganization because the Democratic Party representative was not present and agreed to call a meeting the week of Jan. 24 at a date agreeable to that representative to review the 2022–23 budget.
During two public-comment periods, Rebecca Daly, Voter Liaison for the Democratic Party, told the Board she was disappointed the party representative had missed the last four meetings and said the Acting Chair would write to the representative to determine what is needed for future attendance. Daly also raised a separate point, saying a "48.1 filing by 'The Five'" will probably have to be addressed by Chair Claudette Powell and Secretary Glenwood Foster because they were board members when the alleged incidents occurred; the Board did not respond during the meeting.
Officer of Election Kenneth Townsend asked whether redistricting would change county voting districts; the Board said it had no information on that issue.
The Board adjourned after a motion by Secretary Foster that was seconded by Acting Chair Baker; the motion passed without dissent.
