The Charlotte County Electoral Board met Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2022, at the temporary Registrar’s office in Charlotte Court House to interview applicants for the county Registrar position and hold related personnel discussions.
Electoral Board member Glenn Baker called the meeting to order. The board—recorded as members Glenwood Foster, Glenn Baker and Aubrey Fane—moved into a closed executive session to discuss personnel. Electoral Board member Glenwood Foster made the motion to enter closed session for discussion of personnel, and Aubrey Fane seconded; the motion passed without dissent, according to the meeting minutes.
After returning to open session, the board read a certification resolution stating that the executive session had been conducted in accordance with the Virginia Freedom of Information Act and that only matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements were discussed, citing section 2.2-3712 of the Code of Virginia. A roll-call vote on that certification was recorded as Aubrey Fane—aye; Glenn Baker—aye; Glenwood Foster—aye.
The board also noted that it has not yet reorganized to determine a chairman and secretary; members said the reorganization will occur at the next regular meeting on Thursday, Feb. 3 at 1:00 p.m. The meeting concluded after a motion by Glenwood Foster to adjourn, seconded by Aubrey Fane, which passed without dissent.
No formal appointment to the Registrar position was recorded in the minutes from this session.
