Charlotte County Electoral Board holds closed-session interviews for registrar and certifies meeting under Virginia FOIA

The board said its purpose was to interview applicants for the Charlotte County Registrar position. Board member Glenwood Foster moved that the board go into a closed session for personnel matters to conduct those interviews; board member Aubrey Fane seconded the motion, and it passed without dissent.
After the executive session, Foster moved and Fane seconded a motion to return to open session; that motion also passed without dissent. Upon returning to open session the board read a certification resolution stating that the executive meeting had been conducted in accordance with the Virginia Freedom of Information Act and Code of Virginia §2.2-3712, and that only matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements were discussed.
A roll-call vote to certify the closed meeting was recorded as Aubrey Fane—Aye; Glenn Baker—Aye; Glenwood Foster—Aye. The board recorded the certification as required by the Code of Virginia.
With no further recorded business, Foster moved to adjourn; Fane seconded and the motion passed without dissent. Heather Harding, identified in the record as Registrar for Halifax County, was noted as present during the meeting.
