Covington confirms multiple promotions, accepts resignations and makes civic appointments

At its Jan. 27 meeting the Covington Board of Commissioners approved a slate of personnel actions and appointments by unanimous vote.
The commission approved Commissioners’ Orders ORD-021-2026 through ORD-027-2026 promoting a series of fire department personnel effective Feb. 1, 2026: Captain Kaleb Miller to battalion chief; Captain Doug Veselsky to fire inspector; Lieutenant Brian Grady to captain; Lieutenant Ben Erdman to captain; Engineer Pete Doherty to lieutenant; Firefighter Josh Davis to lieutenant; and Firefighter Brandon Kersting to engineer. Each order was read by City Clerk Susan Ellis and approved by voice vote after motions and seconds recorded in the minutes.
The board accepted resignations recorded as ORD-031-2026 (Firefighter Glenn Caminiti, effective Dec. 18, 2025), ORD-032-2026 (Officer John Mairose, effective Jan. 14, 2026), and ORD-033-2026 (Officer Jeffrey Tolliver, effective Jan. 25, 2026); the commission also accepted the retirement of Battalion Chief Joseph Bowman (ORD-034-2026), effective Feb. 1, 2026.
Under appointments the commission approved ORD-036-2026 appointing Allison Paige Hermes to the Human Rights Commission (three-year term beginning Jan. 28, 2026); ORD-037-2026 appointing Hugo Biondo to the Devou Park Advisory Committee (three-year term); and ORD-038-2026 reappointing Kris Knochelmann to the Covington Economic Development Authority for a four-year term.
The board also approved ORD-035-2026, an MOU with the Carnegie Visual and Performing Arts Center, Inc., and ORD-039-2026, authorizing a contract with SwimSafe Pool Management, Inc. for the 2026 pool season. All consent items were approved without recorded objection. The minutes do not provide personnel background details beyond names and effective dates.
