Chairman signals departure; Commissioner Holbrook’s term ends and Commissioner Olsen moves to council

Chairman Jamie Anderson told the Smithfield City Planning Commission at its Dec. 17 meeting that he has been involved in city service since 2008 and feels it is time to step back. He said he appreciates the opportunity to serve and expects the commission to elect new leadership in January.
Commissioner Bob Holbrook’s term expired, and the minutes note that Dec. 17 was his last meeting. Commissioner Chris Olsen said he has been elected to the Smithfield City Council and that this meeting was his final commission appearance. Commissioner Jim Marshall will conduct the January meeting and the commission will elect a new chair and vice chair at that time.
The announcements were made at the close of the regular agenda following the commission’s consideration of a rezoning recommendation. No votes on personnel or appointments occurred at the meeting; leadership changes will be handled through the commission’s January organizational meeting.
