Garfield County commissioners approve highway expenditure resolutions, reappoint ambulance board member and clear purchase claims

The Garfield County Board of County Commissioners on Aug. 5 approved three highway-expenditure resolutions totaling about $6.05 million, reappointed Jeremy Schler to the Garfield County 522 Ambulance District Board for five years, and approved routine purchase orders and warrants, all by unanimous votes.
Chairman Reese Wedel and the Garfield County Board of County Commissioners approved a slate of routine financial measures at their Aug. 5 meeting in Enid, including three resolutions that set monthly highway spending limits and an appointment to the county ambulance board.
Vice‑Chairman Clarence Maly moved to approve Resolution 24‑101, which sets maximum monthly highway expenditures for August 2024 at $3,561,091.01; Commissioner David Loesch moved approval of Resolution 24‑102 (Highway Expenditures‑CBRI) at $2,274,739.59, and Maly moved Resolution 24‑103 (Highway Expenditures‑CIRB) at $209,570.67. All three motions passed with Aye votes from Wedel, Maly and Loesch.
The board also approved a five‑year renewal appointment for Jeremy Schler to the Garfield County 522 Ambulance District Board after a motion from Commissioner Loesch. The board approved cancellation and transfer actions, including canceling Highway‑Unrestricted appropriation balances of $9,411.13 and transferring $41,322.57 from Excess Resale Property to Resale Property. Vice‑Chairman Maly moved and the board approved a Cash Fund Estimate of Needs and Request for Appropriation for Highway Unrestricted totaling $37,396.73.
Commissioners examined and approved a list of prior‑year warrants and current‑year purchase orders and claims covering multiple departments and funds. The meeting record lists numerous vendors and warrant amounts for general, highway and health department funds. Commissioner Loesch separately moved to approve and authorize the chairman to sign blanket purchase orders as filed with the County Clerk’s Office; that motion also passed unanimously.
County Clerk Lorraine Legere recorded the proceedings and noted that monthly reports for July 2024 from the Assessor, County Clerk, County Health and Treasurer were approved, subject to audit. Under New Business Chairman Wedel provided an update on roof work at 108 S. Independence, and no action was taken.
The board adjourned to meet next on Aug. 12, 2024.
