Commissioners OK MOUs, leases and interlocal agreements with Criminal Justice Authority and rural fire departments

The Garfield County Board of County Commissioners voted July 1 to approve multiple agreements with the Garfield County Criminal Justice Authority and to authorize an interlocal cooperative agreement with several rural fire departments.
Commissioner Clarence Maly moved to approve a Memorandum of Understanding between the Board—on behalf of the Garfield County Sheriff—and the Garfield County Criminal Justice Authority that takes effect July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025. Commissioner David Loesch moved separately to approve a lease agreement between the county board and the Criminal Justice Authority with the same effective dates. The board approved both motions unanimously.
The board also approved two additional MOUs—one for the Garfield County Information and Technology Department and one for the Garfield County Safety Department—with the Criminal Justice Authority, each effective July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025. Commissioners further authorized an Interlocal Governmental Cooperative Agreement covering the Breckinridge, Hunter, Pioneer/Skeleton Creek, Covington, LaHoma, Hillsdale/Carrier, Fairmont, Drummond, Garber and Douglas rural fire departments. That motion passed with an affirmative vote from all three commissioners.
Separately, Resolution #24-73 approved a lease renewal for the Waukomis Fire Department building with SNB and Resolution #24-78 renewed a lease for county equipment; both were approved during the meeting. The minutes do not record public comment on these items.
