West Perry School District board reelects Robbyn Metz as president; Derek Nesbit sworn in

Robbyn Metz was reelected president of the West Perry School District Board of School Directors at the board’s reorganizational meeting on Dec. 2, 2025. The meeting, called to order at 6:32 PM in the West Perry High School Auditorium, also included the swearing-in of Derek Nesbit to the Region III seat and unanimous approval of officer and committee assignments for 2026.
The board, which recorded eight members present at roll call and increased to nine after Derek Nesbit was sworn in, elected Katherine Stover as temporary president before conducting the officer elections. Mrs. Miller moved to nominate Robbyn Metz for board president; the nomination was seconded by Mrs. Johnson and carried on a roll-call vote of 9 Yes, 0 No. After the vote, Mrs. Metz presided for the remainder of the meeting.
The board elected Mrs. Johnson as vice president after nominations were opened and closed; that motion also carried 9–0. The board appointed representatives to outside bodies and committees by unanimous roll-call votes: Gabrielle Brandt to the Capital Area Intermediate Unit, James Hamilton and Tina Magaro to the Cumberland-Perry Area Career and Technical Center joint operating committee, Cassie Miller to Harrisburg Area Community College, and Katherine Stover to the Pennsylvania School Boards Association. Robbyn Metz was named the district’s representative, with Cory Hoffman as alternate, for both the Perry County Tax Collection Committee and the Capital Tax Collection Bureau; those appointments passed 9–0.
Mr. Nesbit moved to approve the 2026 Board meeting dates, a motion seconded by Mrs. Miller; the minutes record that all members present voted in the affirmative and the calendar was adopted. The minutes list approximately 45–50 public/teacher/virtual attendees and note no public comments on agenda items.
Under 'Good of the Order' President Robbyn Metz referenced criticism and emphasized transparency regarding administration and chairpersons; the minutes record the remark but provide no further detail or response. With no further business, Mr. Nesbit moved to adjourn, seconded by Mrs. Magaro; the minutes state 'There was no vote in the affirmative' yet record that the meeting adjourned at 6:51 PM.
