Judge Executive updates Fiscal Court on Spears Drive, courthouse survey and county property sales

SPENCER COUNTY, Ky. — County Judge Executive John Riley told the Fiscal Court Feb. 17 that the Spears Drive construction contract has been signed, a pre-construction meeting was held and QK4 (project manager Steve Emly) will oversee staging and project management, with completion expected by the end of June.
Riley said the election storage area doors have been installed and that the county awaits a locksmith to install security locks. He also reported that an Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) representative performed an electrical and HVAC survey and that Integrity Architecture will conduct an architectural assessment for courthouse renovation and expansion; Riley said potential funding might appear in the 2022 budget.
In other updates, Riley reported the remaining HUMVEE was sold for $19,320 and that the county farm lease was awarded to Ronnie Mason with an $824-per-year increase. The court discussed a safety-committee recommendation to install metal benches in the courtroom (approximate cost $2,000) and asked staff to meet with Randy Bush and facilities personnel to scope the project and funding options, including AOC assistance.
The court also reviewed a Buildings & Grounds quote from RBK Enterprises for drainage work behind the Community Action Center ($3,250) and tasked Todd Burch with obtaining two more quotes. No votes were taken on the project quotes during the Feb. 17 meeting.
