Spencer County Fiscal Court approves pay raises, hires custodian and names deputy judge executive

Judge Executive John Riley called a special meeting of the Spencer County Fiscal Court to order at 5:30 p.m. on July 13, 2020, in Taylorsville.
The court approved several personnel and pay items. In a roll-call vote, the court voted to move the county’s EMS/EMA employee, Mr. Limpp, to a salaried position at $65,000 per year pending completion of required paperwork; the motion was moved by Esq. Beaverson and seconded by Esq. Travis, and passed with all members present voting aye except Esq. J. Moody, who voted nay.
The court also approved employee pay raises as proposed at the July 6, 2020 Fiscal Court meeting. Esq. Travis moved the measure, seconded by Esq. Beaverson; the motion passed by roll call with Esq. M. Moody recorded as voting nay. The court then voted unanimously to make those raises retroactive to July 1, 2020.
Separately, the court increased Wayne Redmon’s hourly rate to $12.50 after a motion from Esq. Travis, seconded by Esq. Brewer; the motion passed with Esq. J. Moody voting nay.
On hiring, the court approved making Thomas Manning a full-time custodian at $12.50 per hour, pending a drug screen and background check. The motion was moved by Esq. Travis, seconded by Esq. Brewer, and passed with Esq. J. Moody recorded as the sole nay vote.
The court accepted the appointment of Brittany Veto as Deputy Judge Executive at a rate of $21.00 per hour, effective Aug. 1, 2020. That motion, moved by Esq. Travis and seconded by Esq. Beaverson, passed despite recorded nay votes from Esq. M. Moody and Esq. Brewer.
The court also approved hiring a yet-unnamed administrative assistant to the County Judge at a pay rate of $15.25 per hour; the motion was moved by Esq. Beaverson, seconded by Esq. Travis, and passed with Esq. J. Moody voting nay.
Esq. Beaverson moved to adjourn the meeting at 6:13 p.m.; the motion, seconded by Esq. Travis, passed by voice vote.
