After Webex problems, Spencer County Fiscal Court votes to return to Zoom platform

Magistrates debated whether to resume in-person sessions under CDC guidance. A motion to return to in-person meetings with CDC precautions resulted in three ayes (Esq. Travis, Esq. Beaverson and Judge Riley) and three nays (Esq. J. Moody, Esq. Brewer and Esq. M. Moody), producing a tied vote and a failed motion. The court then adopted a separate motion to return to the Zoom platform for Fiscal Court meetings with a roll-call 'aye' from all present members.
Magistrates raised health-safety concerns and enforcement questions for in-person meetings, including mask-wearing, social distancing, temperature screening, and capacity limits for the meeting room. Judge Riley and others said they would consult on options for in-person access if public demand required a larger venue or additional safeguards.
The court's motion to resume meetings on Zoom was carried by unanimous vote; no specific date change was announced beyond the platform decision.
