Spencer County renews $1-per-year leases for Ray Jewell Park and Waterford Park

Spencer County Fiscal Court voted to renew nominal one-dollar-per-year leases covering Ray Jewell Park (leased to the Spencer County Youth Baseball Association) and Waterford Park (leased to the Spencer County Sports Association).
Judge John Riley said both leases had automatic one-year renewals and had expired in March; the court moved to renew the agreements under the same basic terms. The documents grant each association the right to use fields, concession stands and parking during their seasons, require the associations to maintain $1,000,000 general-liability coverage naming the county as an additional insured, and state that routine field maintenance during season is the leagues' responsibility while the county provides utilities and capital upkeep. Each lease provides for automatic renewal; either party may terminate with 30 days' notice.
On motion by Esq. Travis and a second by Esq. Brewer, the court voted by roll call to renew both leases.
Judge Riley noted the leases' $1 annual rent and said the county retains full access to premises for other activities. The clerk and packet contain the full lease texts for public inspection.
