West Perry SD sees leadership turnover as principals retire; board approves new hires and sabbatical

At its Dec. 8 meeting the West Perry School District Board of School Directors accepted several resignations and retirements and approved multiple new hires, substitutes and volunteer positions.
The board approved the retirement of Renee LeDonne, West Perry Middle School Principal, effective Feb. 2, 2026, and accepted the retirement of custodian Debra Weller effective Jan. 5, 2026. The board also approved the resignation of West Perry High School Principal Christopher Kasian, effective no later than Jan. 30, 2026. Mrs. Metz and other board members publicly thanked the employees for their years of service; Mrs. Metz offered personal remarks of appreciation to Mrs. LeDonne and Ms. Weller.
The board approved employment items (pending required documentation) effective Jan. 5, 2026: BlairAnn Dressler, Language Arts teacher (High School); Brittany Brown, Special Education paraprofessional (Carroll Elementary); Kayla Pimpinella, District Art Teacher; and Jacob Richcreek, Family and Consumer Science teacher. One employment item (Elijah Puchalsky) was removed from the agenda earlier in the meeting and was not approved. The Board also approved a sabbatical Leave of Absence for Employee 021924 beginning Jan. 20, 2026 through the remainder of the 2025–26 school year, and approved additional substitutes and volunteer coaches, with all motions passing 8-0.
Board member Mr. Nesbit offered a personal tribute to Mr. Kasian’s leadership, and Mrs. Metz publicly thanked custodial staff member Debra Weller for 25 years of service. The Board also updated the Middle School Principal job description and authorized the administration to proceed with recruitment steps consistent with the approved description.
Next procedural steps include posting the updated job description and continuing recruitment for the principal vacancies; no interim assignments or hires for the principal roles were announced during the meeting.
