West Perry board accepts three resignations, appoints Clark McCready acting high school principal

The West Perry School District Board of School Directors on Jan. 12 accepted three staff resignations, approved internal transfers and named Clark McCready as Acting High School Principal.
The board unanimously approved resignations of Brittney O’Neil (secretary to the middle school principal), effective Dec. 23, 2025; Jeremy Rice (industrial arts teacher), effective Feb. 23, 2026, or when the position is filled; and Shana Kitner (high school Spanish teacher), effective Jan. 21, 2026. Mrs. Johnson asked whether exit interviews had been conducted; Mr. Hoffman replied he had not held exit interviews but would schedule them if appropriate.
In a separate motion, Ms. Wills moved and Mr. Nesbit seconded to appoint Clark McCready as Acting High School Principal effective Jan. 5, 2026, at a prorated salary of $95,000 (listed as $387.76 per day). The motion passed 9-0. McCready, speaking to the board, said he appreciated staff support during the transition and expressed enthusiasm for the role: “it meant the world to him last month when Mr. Kasian gave a shout out to him,” and he thanked staff, families and volunteers who support student events.
The board also approved an addendum with ESS Northeast, LLC; adopted a motion to deny West Perry Education Association Grievance #2025-2026.1; and approved substitutes, an extra-duty/co-curricular list and a volunteer wrestling coach. All personnel and administrative motions recorded at the meeting passed unanimously, 9-0.
The board did not discuss replacements for all vacated positions at length; several motions specified hires or transfers contingent on required documentation or pending verification.
