Simpson County Fiscal Court on Aug. 2 handled routine county business including personnel appointments, transfers, and vendor payments.
The court approved the appointment of Ashley Sharer to the Library Board to fill an unexpired term through Jan. 1, 2023 (motion by Marty Chandler, second by Myron Thurman). It consented to the City of Franklin’s annexation of a Grace Road extension contiguous to a 30.05-acre tract and authorized Judge Barnes to sign the consent form.
Fiscal Court moved a $100.51 cash transfer from the closed XYZ Federal Grant Fund to the General Fund and approved a set of budget transfers to cover fleet maintenance, PPE and other lines. The court approved bills and claims that included payroll and vendor payments for multiple county departments.
The court also approved $400 in Orders of Allowance to the 2022 Board of Assessment Appeals ($100 each for four members) and noted the monthly $50 gas stipend policy remains but was not triggered for July because average gasoline prices did not meet the $4.00 threshold.
Judge Barnes acknowledged that county IT employee Adam Wilshire volunteered with the American Red Cross to assist Eastern Kentucky flood relief operations; Barren River District Health Department Director Matt Hunt requested the court consider paying half the cost to repair or replace flooring and upgrade lighting to LED at the local health department facility. Barnes also announced the Chevrolet Club of America’s planned visit to Franklin on Aug. 5, and the court agreed Emergency Management Director Robert Palmer may be deployed to assist Eastern Kentucky if needed.
The court adjourned at 9:38 a.m.
