Sevier County budget committee approves resolutions, orders environmental study and funds Wears Valley convenience center lease

Mayor Larry Waters and Commissioner Fred Atchley presented an offer from the owners of parcel #049A B 003.00 to sell land near the Sevier County Fairgrounds. Because a metal plant previously occupied the site, the committee asked the Mayor’s Office to request an environmental study from the owners and to return the report at the next meeting.
Mayor Waters and Commissioner Warren Hurst presented Resolution 2024-03-XX to authorize and execute an application to the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program for waterline extension projects. Commissioner Bryan Delius moved to accept the resolution; Commissioner Ronnie Whaley seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
Assistant County Mayor and Senior Director of Finance & Administration Brooke Huffaker presented the tentative timeline for the county’s FY2024–2025 budget schedule; the minutes record that the timeline was presented but do not list specific dates in detail.

Vice Mayor Bryan McCarter informed the committee that the April meeting will be rescheduled to Monday, April 8. Commissioner Fred Atchley moved to adjourn; Commissioner Warren Hurst seconded and the meeting adjourned at 4:53 PM.
