Sevier County Fire/Rescue says it received over 7,500 STR inspection applications; hopes new inspector funding will help meet year-end goal

Chief David Puckett and Deputy Chief/Fire Marshall Josh Tucker reported to the Emergency Services Committee on June 6 that the Sevier County Fire/Rescue department has received over 7,500 applications for the county's short-term rental (STR) inspection program.
Puckett said an informational mailer was sent this week to recently identified properties. Commissioner Jack Parton asked whether all inspections would be completed by the end of the year; Puckett said the department is working diligently and hopes that funding for a new inspector in the proposed budget will help achieve that target.
No formal vote or budget decision was taken at the meeting on the staffing request; the remarks were part of routine departmental reports.
