Dickson County Commission approves 2020 road report, committee elections, board reappointments and notaries

At its Jan. 21 meeting the Dickson County Commission approved a series of routine business items, including acceptance of the county’s 2020 road report, elections and reappointments to several county boards and committees, and the approval of a list of notaries submitted by the county clerk.
On a motion by Commissioner Randy Simpkins with a second from Commissioner Jeff Eby, the commission adopted Resolution 01-2020-01 accepting the 2020 Dickson County Road Report prepared by the Dickson County Highway Department; the motion passed by a unanimous aye voice vote.
Commissioners also approved Agricultural Extension Committee elections and re‑elections: Scarlett McMeen and Randy Simpkins were elected to first terms, and Tamara Manley was re‑elected to a second term (motion by Commissioner Becky Spicer; second by Commissioner Carl Buckner). The commission reappointed Mayor Don Weiss, Mike Easley and Robert Speight to the Industrial Development Board (motion by Commissioner David Shepard; second by Commissioner Linda Hayes) and reappointed Shane Chandler (Dist. 3), Robert Qualls (Dist. 5) and Robert Comer (Dist. 12) to three‑year terms on the Planning Commission (motion by Commissioner Dwight McIllwain; second by Commissioner Becky Spicer). All motions recorded in the minutes passed by unanimous aye voice votes.
County Clerk Luanne Greer presented a list of notaries for approval; on a motion by Commissioner Linda Hayes, seconded by Commissioner Dwight McIllwain, the commission approved the listed notaries. Names submitted included Melinda D. Bradford, Jayme L. Calhoun, Carieann Cervantes, Marissa J. Furline, Meghan Hargis, Richard C. Hinson, Michelle L. Morris, Sarah Mosley, Kaitlin Rettig, Katie Thomas and Elizabeth Wilson among others as recorded in the minutes.
Announcements at the meeting included a reminder from Commissioner Randy Simpkins to file statements of interests and an update on the county library construction and openings; the commission adjourned at 7:25 P.M.
