Bland County board approves $5,000 raise for county administrator

Following a closed executive session on personnel Sept. 28, the Bland County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a $5,000 annual pay increase for County Administrator Dr. Eric Workman, effective Oct. 1, 2021.
The board moved into executive session to conduct the administrator’s annual evaluation under the Virginia Freedom of Information Act exception for personnel discussions. After returning to open session, the board adopted a certification that only announced items were discussed, as required by Virginia Code §2.2-3712, then voted on the salary action.
Adam Kidd made the motion to increase the administrator’s salary and Randy Johnson seconded; the roll-call vote recorded all four supervisors in favor. The board did not record any dissenting comment, a salary scale change, or additional conditions attached to the increase in the meeting minutes.
The action was listed under County Administrator’s items and followed the meeting’s executive-session certification.
