Lunenburg supervisors accept CRC refund, transfer 24 Electoral Board laptops to schools or auction, approve VDH agreement

The Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors on Feb. 11 accepted several administrative items, including an $8,536.06 refund from the Commonwealth Regional Council, the transfer or surplus of 24 Electoral Board laptop computers, and the annual Statement of Agreement with the Virginia Department of Health.

Mr. Todd Fortune, assistant director of the Commonwealth Regional Council, told the board that unused dues above the CRC reserve would be returned and that each member county would receive $8,536.06 for FY19-20; the county has the option to keep the refund or reinvest it in the CRC. Administrator Tracy M. Gee said that if the board accepts the funds, one-third would be returned to the two towns in equal shares. Supervisor T. Wayne Hoover moved to accept the refund, earmark it for local grant match, and return one-third to the towns; the motion passed by roll call (six yes, one absent).

Administrator Gee also advised that the Electoral Board has 24 laptops rendered unusable by new software requirements. Supervisor Mike Hankins moved, seconded by Supervisor T. Wayne Hoover, to transfer the laptops to the school system if usable or declare them surplus for auction; the motion passed by roll call (six yes, one absent).

On public health, Administrator Gee presented the annual Statement of Agreement with the Virginia Department of Health for FY2021, requesting an appropriation of $101,839 (below the adopted budget of $115,000). Supervisor Frank Bacon moved to approve the agreement and allow the chairman to sign; the board approved the motion by roll call (six yes, one absent).
