Board adopts ordinance adopting circuit court clerk fee schedule

The Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors voted Dec. 10 to adopt an ordinance incorporating the county’s Circuit Court Fee Schedule dated July 1, 2020, into the Lunenburg County Code.
County Attorney Frank Rennie presented the ordinance, saying the Virginia Auditor of Public Accounts requires adopted local ordinances for circuit court clerk fee schedules to be on file for audit purposes. The ordinance incorporates the 91-page fee schedule as an appendix to the county code and authorizes the circuit court clerk to collect and transfer fees and costs monthly as prescribed by general statute.
There was no public comment during the hearing. Supervisor Frank Bacon moved to approve the ordinance; the motion carried on a roll-call vote with six supervisors voting yes and one absent.
The ordinance supersedes previous local ordinances related to circuit court local funds and directs the clerk to retain the fee schedule for public inspection.
