Lunenburg supervisors re-elect Slayton as chair, Bacon as vice chair and adopt rules

At the Jan. 14 reorganizational meeting, the Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors unanimously re-elected Charles R. Slayton as chairman and Frank W. Bacon as vice-chair, adopted the 2021 meeting schedule and Robert’s Rules of Order, and recognized Supervisor Pennington’s 20 years of service.
The Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors unanimously re-elected Charles R. Slayton as chairman and Frank W. Bacon as vice-chair at its reorganizational meeting on Jan. 14, 2021. County Administrator Tracy M. Gee opened the session and called the meeting to order.
Slayton was nominated by Supervisor Mike Hankins and seconded by Supervisor T. Wayne Hoover; the board closed nominations and re-elected him on a roll-call vote. After Administrator Gee presented Slayton with the gavel, Supervisor Hankins nominated Frank W. Bacon for vice-chair; Hoover seconded and the board unanimously re-elected Bacon.
The board adopted the 2021 invocation and meeting schedule and the 2021 holiday calendar by roll-call vote after a motion from Supervisor Hoover. The board also unanimously adopted Robert’s Rules of Order following a motion from Supervisor Bacon.
Chairman Slayton presented Supervisor Edward Pennington with an engraved granite plaque recognizing his 20 years of service on the board. The meeting proceeded to consent and substantive business after these organizational items.
The board returned to open session after a certified closed session later in the agenda and adjourned at the meeting’s close.
