Lunenburg County issues notice of intent to award $6.44 million radio-system contract to L3Harris

The Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors unanimously voted May 13 to issue a Notice of Intent to Award to L3Harris Technologies and begin contract negotiations for a new UHF conventional radio system.
CTA consultant Cheryl Giggetts summarized the evaluation of two proposals. L3Harris scored 92.84 points on combined technical and pricing criteria and proposed a total pricing structure of $6,438,004.28. Mobile Communications America scored 81.07 points with a quoted total of $9,183,879.65. The consultant said L3Harris’s proposal met the requirements in the RFP based on cost, quality and suitability. Supervisor T. Wayne Hoover voiced support for issuing the notice, noting that the notice itself does not commit the county to a contract but allows negotiations to proceed.
The board’s vote authorizes staff to begin negotiations with L3Harris; any final contract will return to the board for approval consistent with procurement rules.
